We offer the best of both worlds for multi-track recording;  ProTools HD for digital and 2" 24-track for analog,  but which one is best?

Digital offers unlimited editing and tracks, and has very affordable storage.  Compatibility with other studios is easy..

vs.

Analog has limited editing and only 24-tracks.  However, analog offers exceptional sound quality.

We're big fans of analog recording at Turtle.  In fact, when we started out in 1987 everyone recorded analog.  If your a fan of how records sounded in the 70's and 80's, your also a fan of the "analog sound".   Analog sounds very full, warm and smooth.  We believe recording analog is an art-form, and with it the natural emphasis is on performance.   With digital it can be easy to fall into the mind-set of editing tracks for a better performance.   Analog recording has a special mojo, and for an explanation what that "mojo" is, we couldn't explain it any better than Dave Grohl does in his documentary "Sound City".   Check it out.
Our location is ideal for a quick getaway, lots of natural light, surrounded by trees, very private, but minutes from dining and the shores of White Rock and Crescent Beach.   For out-of-town guests we also offer luxury accommodations with full kitchen facilities.
